Gordon Kong is a Toronto-based storyboard artist and animator who graduated with a BFA from the Drawing and Painting: Digital Painting & Expanded Animation program at OCAD University. With the goal to forge immersive cinematic experiences, he focuses on the world-building aspect of storytelling through storyboarding. His drawing style is naturalistic and detailed, allowing him to examine connotative subtleties and rhythmic continuity in a story. His most recent graphic novel Journey to the East, exhibited at GradEx 107, utilizes an “unwittingly progressive” narrative style to create a meditative and peaceful reading experience. This way of narrative may make the reader feel that the story is progressing unforcefully or even unnoticeably until they have reached a certain point in the story.
“Divine One thou lookest into my inmost soul, thou knowest it, thou knowest that love of man and desire to do good livetherein.”
- Ludwig van Beethoven
